Common causes of mechanical back pain

Most common causes of low back pain include sciatica, myofascial tightness, arthritis, spinal misalignment, joint sprain, pregnancy-related factors, disc bulge, postural abnormalities, muscle imbalance or injuries. Following one episode of back pain, it is estimated that more than half of all sufferers will be affected by back pain again later in life often with increased intensity in pain and longer lasting episodes. This is most likely due to inappropriate rehabilitation and prevention measures taken at the time of the initial injury.
